Netherlands Ambassador: Sudan is Exemplary Country in Hosting Refugees

Khor Al-Waral, White Nile State-The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Sudan, Karin Boven, has said Sudan has remained as exemplary country in hosting great numbers of refugees from neighboring countries with hospitality and has overcome the challenges in this connection, a matter that necessities extension of international support to Sudan.
The ambassador, speaking at a mass rally at Al Kashafa Camp at Al Salaam Locality in White Nile State, affirmed that the government of the Netherlands would continue implementation of its projects for supporting the government of Sudan in hosting the refugees.
She pointed out that the peaceful coexistence and cohesion between the host communities and the refugees is conducive for the continuation of the support, referring to the readiness of the government of the Netherlands to support all the countries of the Horn of Africa with sustainable productive income generating projects.
The Ambassador affirmed that the Netherlands and UNDP are coordinating their efforts for enhancing means of livelihood for the sake of stability and peace.
UNHCR’s Representative in Sudan, Ms. Noriko Yoshida, hailed the efforts of the government of White Nile State, lauding the host communities in sharing their land and shelter with the refugees, pointing out that the project of the government of the Netherlands is supportive to the stability of the refugees.
The representative of the Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid, Mohamed Fadlallah, on his part, affirmed that great efforts have been exerted for provision of services to the camps of refugees, calling on the donors to support these efforts.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Netherlands launched Al Saada Agricultural Project at Al Salaam Locality, which is financed by the government of the Netherlands for cultivation of 15,000 feddans as part of the peace and security projects and the process of transference from relief to development, in the presence of the representatives of the government of White Nile State.
