Khartoum – Sudan has agreed to the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, pointing out its importance in managing sensitive migration files.
Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the Sudanese Working Abroad (SSWA), Ambassador Essam Motwalli expressed his hope that the charter finds implementation to address the issues of migration of various kinds; explaining the impact of Sudan of these migrations by virtue of its geographical location, considering the charter as the first international document on the issue of migration in its comprehensiveness
SSWA participated in the Intergovernmental Conference for the Adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, held from 10-11 December in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh
Ambassador Essam Motwalli presented a speech at the first session of the conference, explaining Sudan’s efforts in regular migration and organizing legislation, enacting laws that guarantee the legal rights of migrants, their knowledge, integration into societies, addressing displacement, and combating of irregular migration.
The said conference was attended by 150 countries and 30 organizations from around the world.
