Kaizer Chiefs’ 6-0 aggregate win over Elgeco Plus in the CAF Confederation Cup means that just one team stands between them and the group stages, but who will it be? The draw for the playoff round of the CCC will be held on December 28 in Cairo, with the Amakhosi waiting patiently to see whereabouts in Africa they will be heading to in their bid to reach the final 16.
Chiefs will be drawn against one of the sides that were knocked out of the CAF Champions League this season, with both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns’ last opponents – African Stars and Al-Ahli Benghazi – on their list of potential opponents.
The Glamour Boys could be pitted against a*team right next door from Zambia or Lesotho, or face a trip all the way to the top of the continent to take on a team from Morocco, all will be revealed on Friday.
Here’s Chiefs’ full list of possible opponents in the next round of the CCC:
ZESCO United (Zambia), Al-Hilal (Sudan), Coton Sport (Cameroon), Gor Mahia (Kenya), Stade Malien (Mali), Al-Ahli Benghazi (Libya), Nkana (Zambia), AS Otôho (Congo), Jimma Aba Jifar (Ethiopia), Bantu (Lesotho), Al-Nasr (Libya), Ittihad Tanger (Morocco), African Stars (Namibia), ASC Diaraf (Senegal), Vipers (Uganda).
