The 35th Forum of the Directors of the States of the NHIF Steps towards Success
Minister at the Ministry of Security and Social Development, Mona Farouk addressed the 35th Forum of the of the Directors of the States of the National Health Insurance Fund, under the slogan (integrated efforts for comprehensive coverage), at *Professor Abdul Hamid *Ibrahim Center for training .The State Minister announced that the Ministry will resolve all problems *facing the National Health Insurance Fund NHIF by offering the best health services to all States. She assured that most of the medicines were included in the health insurance list. Overall quality must be matched by quality in performance, she said. She pointed out that the Forum comes to evaluate the performance and opportunity to exchange views and ideas as well as to identify experiences between the States.
Dr. Talal Al-Fadil, Director-General of the National Health Insurance Fund, disclosed the introduction of a million new families of poor people funded by the Federal Ministry of Finance. He predicted that the coverage of the poor would reach 90 percent by the end of 2020, and Talal said this was a major shift in the state’s commitment to protect the poor from the high cost of medical services. Talal added that the first half of this year saw an increase in the number of States that exceeded the 85% coverage Talal referred to the study carried out by the Fund, which concluded that the medicine and medical service increased by 52% from the year 2017. There are 3,000 health institutions offering services to the insured in different states of Sudan and more than 2,500 pharmacies to provide medicine.
Basit Yousif Ibrahim, Director of the General Directotate for Planning at the National Health Insurance Fund, said the aim of the forum is to review what has been achieved during the first half of this year, He stated that the Forum aims to develop systems and mechanisms to confront economic changes and access to some state experiences as well as follow-up performance and transfer of successful experiences between States
*He noted that the 35th forum is being held to strengthen the system, and to review the indicators that reflect performance, based on the plan of universal health coverage and to achieve its objectives by the end of the year 2020. He added that the forum will discuss many scientific papers, review the performance report.
Dr. Basset confirmed the commitment of the government of Sudan to support the comprehensive health coverage by 2020 stated that the aim of the Forum to review 2018 performance so as to improve to achieve quality. He added that the forum will discuss many scientific papers, review the performance report.
