Khartoum- Minister of Animal Resources Adam Abdul-Karim Dagash has announced that the Department of Animal Health is to organize on February 5-6 at Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum opening workshop for the third epidemic survey project, in the presence of the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Sudan and the Dutch expert at the EU.
This came when the Minister met Sunday with the Dutch expert at the EU in the presence of Director of Animal Resources Marketing Department Dr. Nadir Yusuf Hamdan and Director of Animal Health Department Dr. Khidir Ali Al Faki.
Dagash affirmed concern of his ministry with the animal health and its sponsorship to the program of combating diseases to ensure safe and healthy herd and to increase production and productivity.
The minister explained that the meeting discussed arrangements for the third epidemic survey project to support means of livelihood for small producers and herdsmen, adding that the project was prepared by the Animal Health Department and submitted to the EU that agreed to fund it by a sum of 9 million euro, noting that the project is an extension to the EU support to Sudan in this field that has lasted for 20 years.
He said the project targets the states of Blue Nile, White Nile, West, South and North Kordofan, Gadarif and Kassala, affirming that it would contribute to supporting veterinary laboratories and quarantines besides awareness programs in the field of animal health.
