Atbara Cement Company Allocates US$15 Million for Power Production

State minister of Industry and Trade Dr. Abu Al Basher Abdul Rahman Yousif, the head of technical committee of trade an electronic entrepreneurship has reviewed the difficulties that face cement factories in the River Nile State.
The State minister told reporters that Atbara Cement Factory is one of the biggest factories in Sudan, he congratulated the Factory on its getting ISO license, urging the staffs to double efforts to export cement to the neighboring countries.
The governor of the River Nile Hatim Al Wasila Al Samani has appreciated cooperation between the Factory and the State government, pointed out that his government will support the policies of the factory and it will conern with its difficulties.
While the director of the industry, trade and investment in the River Nile State Mojahid Mohamed confirmed that the impact of the factory on the environment will be monitored through the industrial monitoring company, the deputy of the general director of the Sudanese Standard and Metrology Organization ISSO assured that Atbara Cement Factory has met the Sudanese Standards disclosing a new Cement Laboratory will be constructed in the State.
The directors of both Atbara and the North Cement Factories affirmed the “Cement” is strategic product, they attributed the rising of prices to the cost of production and the rising of the electricity.
The director of Atbara Cement Factory revealed that the total contract of the Factory is 250 million Euro “the production capacity of the Factory is 5700 tons per a day” added the director who stated that the products distributed to more than 90 traders and companies. Also he said his company began to invest in estate development and power production from the emissions of gases “this project is first in its kind in Sudan, its cost is US$ 15 million.
As regard to social responsibility of the company it supported 2600 households and constructed 9 schools in various parts of Sudan besides drilling of water wells.
The director of the North Factory of Cement stated that the main challenges face cement factories in the State is the production inputs such as spare parts, limestone, power and gasoline “the price of ton of cement is 5800 SDGs” said the director who assured that his company concerns with environment safety “we installed filter of 3 million Euro to reduce pollution” added the director.
Also he told that his company concerns with a forestation as a part of social responsibilities.
