Khartoum – Director General of the African Center for Earth and Mineral Sciences, Dr. Ibrahim Shadad stressed that the center completed the preparation of the mineral map of African countries until 2030, pointing out that there are many challenges facing the mining sector in Africa.
Shadad stressed, in a paper he presented at the 4th International Mining Forum and Exhibition here yesterday, that the center, based in the Tanzanian city of Arusha, has been providing technical support and training assistance to African countries in the field of minerals, calling for the need to establish a continental and regional institute to develop polices, expressing Sudan’s readiness to host this institute.
He added that the African continent still lacks information centers that provide information at the African level in the field of mineral resources, stressing the need to pay attention to the industries related to equipment used in small mining, in addition to the equipment dealing with the processing and extraction of metals by advanced technological means, calling for the exploitation of minerals in Africa to deal with internal conflicts in the continent..
