Festival of Liberation

Imam Sadig Al-Mahdi was the former prime minister of Sudan 1966-1967 and 1986-1989.In 1988 , cartoonist Hashim Karori published a cartoon book about him titled” The microphone of Mr. prime minister. It is worth noting that Sadig Al mahdi in 2013 was awarded Qusi peace prize in Manila, the capital of Philipine.Qusi is a Pilipino freedom fighter and human rights campaigner. In his recent press conference ,Imam Sadig ElMahdi,Umma National party leader was feeling relief to talk in unfettered and uncensored atmosphere that prompted him to recall the words of Syrian Poet Nazar Ghabani ” …speak about the weather, you are intact, the contraceptive pills, you are safe. This is the law in the poultry farm” He thanked the attendees from the members of News agencies, newspapers and T.V Stations regarding all of them as friends, supporters and critics. Criticism is the greatest means of construction” he said quoting one of the west philosophers. According to him, due to the criticism of Rapid Support Forces, he was once imprisoned, but he admitted that they had accomplished tribal reconciliations. The Rapid Support Forces with the army aligned to the people when they rejected dispersing the public by force. He defines what has happened in Sudan rather than a military coup as blood -shed prevention by the army.
He pointed out that the transition from individualistic repressive power to a civilian rule based on the consent of the people would have broad resonance. He went on to highlight the prominent features of civil rule structure as a sovereignty council, National Security Body and National Legislative Assembly that is inclusive of the Forces for Freedom and Change, other opponents of former regime and observes the representation of women, youth, displaced and marginalized. He believes that their prerogatives should be governed by a constitutional declaration. Further, he thinks that National Congress henchmen should be stripped of any illicit privileges earned through unfair empowerment. As to the governance system, the former prime minister of Sudan remarked that some of Sudanese people have demanded secularism. He thinks that such a declaration provides ammunition to a counter revolution.
Sharia is justice, consultative participation, an accountability and transparency” he said alleging that the toppled regime abused the sharia by its tyranny, injustice and corruption. During his press meeting suggested that the issue of religion and state should be debated in a constitutional conference. Moreover, he proposed an immediate Sudan accession to the International Criminal Court in coordination with the Military council stressing on the sagacity and wisdom in dealing with it. Reflecting on the provinces uprising in Sudan, he said they were multiple and sustained and had been triggered by an accumulation of public wrath that started with the popular rejection of 2018 budget. He Has described the youth epic courage and inflexible determination as amazing and proudly referring to them as the generation of conquests. He urged the youth to continue their sit-in until people rejoice in a festival of an entire liberation. Let me conclude with the words of British ex- premier Harold Macmillan from ” the winds of Change” published by the Guardian:’ …As the time passes, human problems change and fade, let us remember these truths, let us resolve to build not to destroy and let us remember always that weakness comes from division, strength from unity”.
