RSF versus SWAT

The phenomenon of central governments recruiting Special Forces to assist the army in its mission in protecting the nation is not new as most of the governments recruit Special Forces to conduct specific missions in accordance to the security situations.
The United States was the first nation that initiated this system through the formation of special fighting units under the name Special Weapon and Tactic Troops (SWAT) in the year 1967.
The mission of SWAT is to control all the violations of the ethnic and terrorism groups which the regular police could not deal with.
The SWAT is strongly equipped and is distinguished with its swift movements to bring about control in record time.
The USA has also the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) with almost the similar mission of SWAT but with more advanced equipments that include airplane, rockets, warships and even submarines.
It goes without saying that the establishment of such highly equipped and qualified forces saves a lot of effort and money.
According to experts only one thousand of such forces can quell surprise attacks from insurgents.
In Sudan when the NISS initiated the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), most of the western countries rejected the idea, while nobody comments on SWAT or the RDF of the USA.
Even in Sudan the Umma Party leader, Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi criticized the RSF while he himself – when he was prime minister in 1987 – formed and armed the tribes in South Darfur and South Kordofan to protect the citizens from the insurgents.
Accordingly we don’t see any justification for the blatant attack against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the media.
The RSF managed to defeat and repulse the insurgents and outlaws from most of rebels’ strongholds in Kordofan and Darfur.
The arrangements and coordination between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF is none of anybody’s concern because this is the mission of those responsible for protecting the nation.
SAF and RSF assessments should be respected and all other institutions should provide all possible assistance if required.
What is provided by the RSF necessitates from all of us to provide a rapid support to those heroes to enable them conduct their mission perfectly instead of the discouraging statement aired in the media outlets.
