I Witness: No More Deaths

An agreement was signed between the military council and the freedom and change at dawn last Friday. That agreement came after long hours of waiting, dialogue and agony. The people of Sudan have been waiting for almost four months to see this moment. Why was that? Why were the people of Sudan anxious to hear the news of an agreement, any agreement between the military council and the freedom and change? It is a good question. The answer is very simple. The masses of Sudanese or let us say the great majority of the Sudanese people are not interested in either the military council or the freedom and change powers. They are interested in stopping the chaos and disability that have been prevailing and dominating the Sudanese scene since the nineteenth of last December, when the protests began. Since then tens of innocent Sudanese youths have lost their lives. Hundreds are injured due to the demonstrations in the streets of the Sudanese cities in all the states. A lot of damage has inflicted public and private properties. So the people of Sudan are eager to hear the news of any agreement. That news came on the fifth of July.
The deaths happened during the demonstrations or the so-called “Millionia” arranged by the freedom and change to impose pressure on the military council to hand over the rule of Sudan to them. The military council didn’t hand the rule to the freedom and change as a result of those demonstrations, but the result of those demonstrations were unfortunately nothing but the deaths of people. The military council were ready to do what they did without demonstrations and of course without the deaths of people. Now that we have reached an agreement we hope that the direct input of the agreement is the stoppage of deaths. The slogan that we should all raise should be “No more deaths”. We have had enough of bloodshed. But unfortunately, some voices are now calling for more demonstrations next week! Those voices should be shut. Anyone who calls for any kind of demonstrations should be dealt with as per the most quick and strong measures. The agreement is supposed to gain the consent of the majority of the people. It has been signed on behalf of the Sudanese people. So anyone who stops against it should be dealt with as the “enemy of the people”!
