The Sovereign Council Holds First Meeting after Taking Oath of Office

Khartoum – The Sovereign Council held its first meeting here Wednesday noon under the chairmanship of First Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan Abdul Rahman, President of the Council after taking the oath before the Chief Justice Abbas Ali Babiker Mohamed, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Presidency, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ali Ibrahim.
On the other hand, nine of the council members sworn in before the Council President and Chief Justice, where they are:- First Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, Lt. Gen. Shams Al-Deen Al-Kabbashi Ibrahim, Lt. Gen. Yasser Abdul Rahman Hassan Al-Atta, Maj. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Karim, Hassan Mohamed Idris, Dr. Al-Siddiq Tawor Kafi, Mohamed Al Faki Suleiman, Aisha Mousa Al-Saeed and Raja Nicola Essa Abdul Masih, while council member Mohamed Hassan Osman Al-Taaishi was absent from the oath due to his presence abroad, where he is expected to sworn in later.
It is expected to issue a constitutional decree in the coming hours on appointing the Prime Minister agreed upon Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk and then taking oath on Wednesday evening.
Member of the Council Mohamed Al-Faki confirmed, in a press conference held by FFC members in the sovereign council after their oath, confirmed that a number of urgent files waiting the new prime minister, while Aisha Mousa, the member of the council, confirmed her support for all issues of women, praising the youth revolution, which she described as the revolution of dignity.
Lt. Gen. Shams Al-Deen Al-Kabbashi said, in a press conference, that the Prime Minister would take oath before the head of the Sovereign Council and Chief Justice, revealing selection of First Lt. Gen. Jamal Omer as defense minister.
