Khartoum- Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok continues his consultations to form the new government after the approval of the political agreement and the formation of the Sovereign Council that will lead the country in the interim period.
The leading figure of the Forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change, Sattie Al-Haj, pointed out over a program of the Sudan Radio yesterday that the announcement of the ministers of the transitional government will be on the 28th of this month by the Prime Minister who would then take the oath of office and hold its first meeting.
This would be followed by holding the first joint meeting by the Sovereign Council and the Council of Ministers next September 1.
Al Haj stressed that implementation of the time-table of the constitutional document is progressing as planned.
Al-Haj said that the Prime Minister would choose the members of his cabinet from the options before him, noting that he has wide powers to increase the number of portfolios to achieve the goals of the revolution and the aspirations of the people.
Al-Haj said that the Forces of Freedom and Change have determined the number of the ministerial portfolios, but it is up to the prime minister according to his wide powers.
He explained that the political agreement indicated that the military component is to choose two portfolios in the Council of Ministers, namely the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and that its options are also presented to the Prime Minister to make any observations about them.
Al-Haj tackled the positive signals of the international community following the recent democratic transformation of the country, stressing that these signals would lead to provide assistance to Sudan through debt relief, overcoming pressures and removing Sudan from the terrorism list.
