Nicola Witnesses the Launch of Community Security and Stability Projects in Five States

Khartoum – Member of the Sovereign Council, Dr. Raja Nicola and the ministers of agriculture, social development and labor will witness here this morning the launching of community security and stability projects implemented by the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (DDR) funded by donors through the United Nations Development Program.
DDR Commissioner, Major General Abdel Rahman Abdel Hamid said that the project targets the states of North, West, South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Sennar, stressing that the governors of these states will participate in the inauguration process, in addition to the UNDP country director, the Swedish ambassador to Khartoum and a number of ministers, saying that Sweden and some donors have financed this project.
Abdel – Hamid said that the project of community security and stability is implemented by national organizations in accordance with the agreed standards and bases, noting that the projects are implemented in the fields of agricultural machinery and capacity – building and other projects that contribute to the security and stability of the community.
On the other hand, DDR Commissioner-General discussed, with the delegations of the World Organization for Social Services and the program for the protection of children in UNICEF, ways to reduce the phenomenon of migrant children transiting states, calling for the provision of support and assistance necessary for research and studies to address this phenomenon, stressing that there are sections and experts specialists in this field.
For her part, the head of the delegation of the World Organization for Social Services expressed appreciation for the efforts of the commision, especially in the humanitarian aspects and children, adding that they have received a comprehensive enlightenment in the areas of work of the commission, especially with regard to children..
