Khartoum- Chairman of Transitional Sovereign Council 1st. Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of the Security and Defense Council, announced the launching of Sudan’s first-ever satellite to carry out research in military, economic and space technology in partnership with China.
Al Burhan pointed out upon presiding over the meeting of the Security and Defense Council at the Republican Palace yesterday that the satellite aims to develop research in the field of space and to acquire a database and obtain knowledge and science of space technologies in addition to discovering natural resources and serving the military aspects in the country.
For his part, spokesman for the Transitional Sovereign Council Mohamed Al-Faki Suleiman said in a press statement after the meeting that the Council is formed in partnership between civilians and military, unlike in the previous period, where it was run by military personnel only.
He pointed out that the membership of the Council includes Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, members of the Sovereign Council, the Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Justice and Head of the General Intelligence Service.
He pointed out that the Council discussed a number of economic reports submitted by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, along with security reports presented by the Director of General Intelligence Service.
